HTC Desire 700 Latest Features

HTC Desire 700 Latest Features

HTC made a splash in the market last year with the launch of its top-end smartphone, HTC One. However, it failed to translate this into sales. Nevertheless, the company continues undeterred with the launch of a smartphone with a similar design and software features as HTC One - the new Desire 700.Desire 700 is a dual-sim smartphone with rather modest specs like low-resolution screen, just 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and 2,100mAh battery - at a price tag of 33,000 in the country. However, the device is available We tested the new Desire 700 to see whether its performance justifies the price tag of Rs 23,000. Here's the review of the new HTC smartphone... and why it seems exorbitant even at Rs 23,000. Desire 700 takes many design cues from its older sibling HTC One. You will find the dual front-facing speakers, curved back panel and rounded edges on both smartphones. The design is pretty good but there is one key difference between the two - HTC One is made of aluminium (a premium material), whereas Desire 700 has plastic construction.
                                              HTC Desire
Desire 700 is low configuration at a high price point. A look at the spec sheet of the device and you will think this smartphone is straight out of 2011. It has a 5-inch screen with resolution of 960x540p; compare this to the 720p display of Moto G, priced at Rs 12,499!T resolution looks disappointing on paper, but the colour saturation and display quality are such that you get good colours and won't see any pixilation in most scenarios. It also offers great viewing angles; the phone simply does not lose colour whichever angle you look at it from. However, Desire 700's display is not without its flaws either; the issue being sunlight legibility. The brightness level of the phone is disappointing; it simply cannot hold its own in *direct* sunlight; we highlight the word 'direct' because otherwise the screen shows pretty good colours. phone comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM, in a time when 2GB RAM has become staple for any mid-range smartphone. Moreover, the Snapdragon 200 chip is too old. Much cheaper Moto G comes with the newer Snapdragon 400 chipset.
                                                HTC Desire
Desire 700 still runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), with HTC's proprietary Sense 5.0 user interface. The three-generation old operating system is well quite old, though you get one of the best custom Android skins available in the market.

The best part of the software is Blinkfeed, which debuted with HTC One and shows news and social media updates right on the home screen. On other smartphones, we use Flipboard app regularly, but using Blinkfeed made us forget about it during the review period.
You also get a *mostly* smooth interface, with several home screen shortcuts that have been around for long. The occasional little lag is not enough to adversely impact the user experience too much; at least, it wasn't during our review period.
Samsung's Chromebook 2 Update To Widely Popular Laptops

Samsung's Chromebook 2 Update To Widely Popular Laptops

Samsung's last Chromebook was a smashing success, a $249 laptop that sat at the top of the Amazon charts for virtually its entire lifespan. Now the company's announced its successor, the leather-clad Chromebook 2, which comes in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch frames, and represents a big bet from Samsung on the future of Chrome OS.The $399.99, 13.3-inch model is one of the most high-end Chromebook models yet, at least on paper. The 3.09-pound body has a 1920 x 1080 screen, 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and Samsung's latest Exynos 5 Octa processor. The processor is hardly the most powerful chip available to Samsung, but Chrome OS has typically not required high-end silicon, and if Samsung's promise of 8.5 hours of battery life is true then the tradeoff may well be worth it. For $319.99, the 11.6-inch model steps down to a 1366 x 768 screen, a slightly slower processor, and eight hours of battery. But it keeps the same storage, RAM, port selection, and weighs just 2.43 pounds.

larger model comes in black and white, the smaller only in "Titan Gray." Both come with the same stitched-leather back that works well for Samsung's Note devices, combined with some of the sleek aesthetic charm of the Ativ Book 9 Plus. They're among the best-designed Chromebooks ever made, and make big promises: if Samsung's made the first Chromebooks that are good, good-looking, and affordable, it's going to be a quick climb back to the top of the Amazon charts.

Nokia's New Android Smartphone Leaked Mobiles

Nokia's New Android Smartphone Leaked Mobiles

Nokia's new Android smartphones will underwhelm users of high-end phones. The Nokia X line was created with emerging markets in mind, so the company emphasized keeping prices low, meaning the user interface is relatively simple. The home screen resembles the one on Nokia's Windows-based Lumia phones, even though it's Android underneath. But Nokia added a Fastlanefeature, a screen with quick access to your most-used apps. You get to it by swiping from the left or right edge of the home screen or tapping the back button at the bottom. The basic Nokia X phone costs 89 euros ($122) and has a 4-inch screen, measured diagonally, and a 3-megapixel camera. A X+ version with an SD storage card costs 99 euros, while an XL with a 5-inch screen and 5 megapixel camera goes for 109 euros. In the brief time I've had with the Nokia X at this week's Mobile World Congress wireless show in Barcelona, Spain, I have found the Fastlane feature to be a good start. It's something I would like to see on more phones, including Nokia's Windows devices.

I hate to spend time customizing gadgets, getting the icons for the most-used apps on the main home screen. The nice thing about Fastlane is that you don't have to spend any time on that. Your favorite apps are just one swipe away - sort of.
The top of Fastlane shows you what's coming up, whether that's alarms about to ring or future events in your calendar. Below that are your recently used apps. The ones you just used will be at the top, so you don't have to scroll down.
For some apps, you get information that normally comes with notifications, such as previews of text messages or alerts that three people have tried to reach you on WeChat, a Chinese social network. You see small versions of recent photos and can tap for the larger version in the photo gallery app. You see calls you missed, songs you heard and websites you visited.

Metal-Bodied Samsung Galaxy S5 Leaked mobile Specifications

Metal-Bodied Samsung Galaxy S5 Leaked mobile Specifications

Samsung recently took covers off its much-awaited flagship smartphone Galaxy S5. Now the internet media is abuzz with rumours that another version of the model is in the works. The company will position the new new version under its rumoured premiumGalaxy F series. This means that the upcoming device - which is expected to have a metal body - will be placed above the current model of Galaxy S5.As per a report by Korean newspaper ET News, Samsung will unveil the metal-bodied Galaxy S5in May this year. The plastic version of the device goes on sale on April 11 in 150 countries, including India.

However, the metal frame will not be the only new feature of the upcoming variant of Galaxy S5. The device will have a high resolution 2K (2560x1440p) screen, compared to the 1920x1080p display of the current model. Other features include 3GB RAM (vs 2GB in Galaxy S5), Samsung's proprietary 64-bit Exynos Infinity processor and optical image stabilization in the camera.
Wondering why Samsung did not unveil the Galaxy F alongside the Galaxy S5? According to Twitter user Ricciolo, the company is waiting for the announcement of the successor of HTC One, scheduled for March 28, before making its next move. Last year, HTC won accolades from all segments for the premium build quality of its One smartphone, whereas Galaxy S4 was derided for its plastic shell. It is also said that Galaxy F will be a new line of premium devices that will be placed not only above the Galaxy S series, but also the Galaxy Note range.
According to a Bloomberg report, Samsung will price the Galaxy S5 cheaper than its predecessor, Galaxy S4, due to pressure from telecom carriers. However, such telecom operator subsidies are not applicable in India and all phones (barring iPhone 5S and 5C by Reliance Communications) are sold off-contract. Galaxy S4 hit the Indian market at Rs 41,500 last year.
World's Biggest CyberAttack Detected

World's Biggest CyberAttack Detected

An internet security firm has stumbled upon a "mind boggling" and "Godzilla-sized" cache of personal data put up for sale on the online black market by hackersOne of the hacker attacks stole over 105 million records making it the single largest data breach in cybercrime history. The trove included credentials from more than 360 million accounts and around 1.25 billion email addrThe discovery was made by cybersecurity firm Hold Security. "These credentials can be stolendirectly from your company but also from services in which you and your employees entrust data. In October 2013, Hold Security identified the biggest ever public disclosure of 153 million stolen credentials from Adobe Systems. One month later we identified another large breach of 42 million credentials from Cupid Media," the firm said. They accumulated the data over the past three weeks. The company first tracked over 300 million abused credentials that were not disclosed publicly (that is over 450 million credentials if one counts the Adobe find).

"But this month we exceeded all expectations. In the first three weeks of February we identified nearly 360 million stolen and abused credentials and 1.25 billion records containing only email addresses. These mind boggling numbers are not meant to scare you and they are a product of multiple breaches which we are independently investigating. This is a call to action," it added.

"The sheer volume is overwhelming," said Alix Holden, chief information security officer of Hold Security.Hold Security says that the email addresses came from all major providers including Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, and that many non-profit organizations and almost all Fortune 500 companies had been affected. This comes just months after details of 2.9 million people across the globe were stolen in a highly sophisticated cyberattack on Adobe.

Adobe's security team announced recently that the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords on its systems and removed information including customer names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates and customer orders.

Chrome 34 Beta Features For Windows,Mac And Linux Free Voice Search

Chrome 34 Beta Features For Windows,Mac And Linux Free Voice Search

Chrome 33 was released, Google hasannounced the release of Chrome 34 beta for Windows, Mac, and Linux. New features include the addition of responsive images, an unprefixed version of the Web Audio API, and hands-free Google Voice Search. The last of the three is arguably the most exciting: just open a new tab or visit Google.com in Chrome, say “Ok Google,” and then start speaking your search. The feature is being rolled out gradually to US English users on all three desktop platforms “over the next few days.” Google notes that support for additional languages and Chrome OS is “coming soon.”

To enable the feature, you’ll have to visit Google.com, click on the microphone icon, and hit “Enable Ok Google” as you can see in the screenshot above. Once you flip the switch, Google offers three examples of what you can do: perform searches (Ok Google, how many ounces are in a cup?), set a timer (Ok Google, set a timer for 30 minutes), and create a reminder for Google Now (Ok Google, remind me to pick up dessert at 6pm tonight).

Chrome 34 beta, Google is also introducing “srcset” to let Web developers provide multiple resources in varying resolutions for a single image, in the hopes of speeding up page load times, reducing wasted bandwidth, and ending improperly formatted content. Responsive images means the browser picks the resource that matches the device’s capabilities, whether it’s a desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, or a TV.

Lastly, the new beta browser comes with an unprefixed version of the Web Audio API, to bring Chrome’s implementation of Web Audio in alignment with the W3C draft specification. Google is asking developers to switch to the unprefixed versions “soon,” as the prefixed versions have been deprecated and will be removed in a future release.

The full changelog for this release is as follows:Responsive Images and Unprefixed Web Audio.Hands-free Google Voice Search in Chrome.Import supervised users onto new computers.A number of new apps/extension APIs.Lots of under the hood changes for stability and performance. The third point is worth expanding on: you can now import supervised users, which were first added as a beta feature Chrome 32. Imported supervised users come with all their permissions, which will automatically sync across devices.
