Panay says the display boasts the highest contrast ratios in the industry.

Microsoft also announced new accessories for the Surface Pro 3, including a docking station and redesigned Type Covers. The new Surface Pro 3 Type Cover includes a redesigned trackpad that's 68 percent larger with 70 percent reduced friction Panay admitted the Surface Pro 2's wasn't very well-received and a new hinged cover that magnetically seals to the screen, to allow the cover to adjust to whatever angle you position the tablet using the full friction kickstand.

 12-inches is kind of an awkward size for a tablet ostensibly designed for portability, but Panay emphasized that the Surface Pro 3 was designed to bring you tablet portability and laptop-like productivity, all in one device, citing a statistic that claims 96 percent of all iPad users also own a laptop. 

Introducing a larger Surface makes sense given the Surface lineup's penchant for productivity, as it gives Windows desktop programs and Snapped Windows Store apps room to breathe. Paired with a Touch Cover, the original Surface Pro tablets already mimed a miniature Ultrabook—the Surface Pro 3 just embraces the heritage all the more, while still staying slim and allowing for keyboardless use.

"Can we design and build a device that enables any individual to be able to read and to be able to create and write?" Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella pondered during the event's introduction. "Allows you to watch a movie and make a movie; enjoy art and create art? That was the motivation for the Surface line."

That guiding vision, one that Microsoft's tablets have strived for from their very introduction, looks like it's starting to pay dividends. The Surface Pro 3 is a pretty damned appealing piece of hardware at first glance.

Prices start at $799, with pre-orders opening tomorrow, May 21. The Surface Pro 3 will hit the streets on on June 20.

You can specify which folders to sync between devices. You can share documents with other BTSync users in read-only mode (meaning they can’t change the file on your devices). Advanced users can even use BTSync to track document versioning.But there are some downsides to BTSync. You can’t sync specific files with specific devices. With BTSync, you either sync a folder among your devices or you don’t. You also need to have your devices powered on and signed in for BTSync to work; the BitTorrent protocol relies on both devices being active to share files.Perhaps most notably, the program isn’t very newbie-friendly—though BitTorrent Sync chief Erik Pounds says the team is “laser-focused on making BitTorrent Sync drastically easier to use.”All that said, BitTorrent Sync is a terrific option for folks who want to sync data without relying on cloud services and third-party servers.

The One-time secret option creates a code that lets you share the folder with others, with either full or read-only access, but the code becomes invalid 24 hours after creation. It’s sharing with security in mind. You can also give mobile devices a one-time secret by clicking the Connect mobile device button at the bottom of the Folder Info window.From here it should be pretty obvious what you have to do. The permanent “Read only secret” lets you share the folder with others. Any changesyou make will be pushed out to the read-only copy, but any changes made by the recipient of the read-only secret does not sync back to your folder. If you share a text document and give someone full access, then any changes they make to the text document are sent to your devices.

      

         

SYNCING FILES WITH ANDROID AND IOS:

BitTorrent Sync is built around syncing entire folders rather than individual files at this point, you can force it to ignore specific files in a folder, which could be handy in sharing situations.Doing so requires tinkering with the “.SyncIgnore”file that appears when you enable hidden files in a synced folder (just like .SyncArchive). Open .SyncIgnore in your text editor of choice; Notepad works. Start a new line in the .Sync Ignore file and type the name, including the extension, of the file you want BTSync to ignore.

Though the Nexus 7 tablet bears the same name as its predecessor, its new look and long list of feature updates including the much-anticipated Android 4.3 give it the aura of an entirely new gadget.wireless charging, quad-core processor, and rear-facing camera: Google’s 2013 edition of the Nexus 7 proves you can get plenty of bang for your buck, even though its latest entry in the budget tablet market now exceeds that magical $199 price point.

                                        

 Nexus 7 and this year’s model is its 7-inch diagonal screen size. Indeed, the two tablets are so different, they really should have different names. Google’s new tablet is thinner and sleeker—Hugo Barra, vice president of Android product management at Google, explained that the side bezels were reduced by 3mm on each side so that the device would be easier to hold with one hand. Shaving off that 6mm provides a “much more comfortable grip,” Barra said at the event.

Today’s announcements also pushed forth a new processor architecture for the Nexus 7. Rather than stick with Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 chip, the Asus-built device now features a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. It’s the same chip featured inside the Nexus 4 handset announced late last year, though according to Android Police, initial Nexus 7 performance benchmarks show the processor performing just a bit better inside the tablet. This particular chip should help increase battery life, as well as speed up software multitasking. The tablet’s RAM has also been increased from 1GB to 2GB to help support processing power. 

          

Nexus 7’s new 1080p display is also a huge improvement over the last generation. Barra compared this new features to a “5.1 surround sound system… just using the device speakers or any pair of headphones.”Other hardware perks include the ability to wireless charge the device with an Qi-standardized wireless charger, a feature that is only available on a limited variety of Android devices. You’ll be able to simply plop down the device on a compatible charging base and have it refuel overnight. The Nexus 7 will also have NFC capabilities, and unlike its predecessor, Google and Asus will only offer a 16GB and 32GB variant of the Android tablet, priced at $229 and $269, respectively. You can also pick up a 32GB LTE version for $349. Last year's Nexus 7 is now listed as "no longer available" in the Google Play store.

With that in mind, the new OneNote for Mac update allows users to organize hyperlinks with short descriptions, drag and drop images, and print notes. 

OneNote for the Mac also stole a page from other Office applications with Format Painter, or the ability to simply "copy" the format of a range of text and apply it elsewhere on the page. The new update also allows users to copy and paste content from elsewhere, preserving the formatting.

Microsoft also said the OneNote for the iPhone update frees the app from the Mac, allowing it to create its own notebooks. "This means that you can now create a new notebook, share it with others, and get on the same page–all from the convenience of an iPhone. 

Microsoft also added Office Lens to the iPhone, one of the niftiest features of OneNote. Office Lens turns the iPhone into a portable scanner. Take a picture of a brochure, for example, and it automatically reformats it to best effect. Even better, Office Lens for the iPhone includes optical character recognition (OCR), which can take that brochure and turn it into editable text.
